Amazon has announced that the launch of its “Fallout” TV series, based on the popular video game franchise, has been a massive hit for its Prime Video service.
The streamer says the series, which was released all at once, pulled in 65 million viewers in its first sixteen days of availability.
That makes it the second most-watched title on the platform to date, behind only the debut of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” in 2022.
It has also become the most-watched ever on the service among adults 18-34, and 60% of the show’s audience coming from outside the United States.
The UK, France, and Brazil have reportedly been the biggest countries outside the U.S. in terms of viewership.
Amazon has not released any data indicating how viewers are counted, so how many completed the season isn’t clear. They have already renewed “Fallout” for a second season.
The series is set two hundred years after the apocalypse and follows the gentle denizens of luxury fallout shelters that are forced to return to the irradiated hellscape their ancestors left behind – only to discover an incredibly complex, gleefully weird, and highly violent universe waiting for them
Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, Kyle MacLachlan, Walton Goggins, Moisés Arias, Sarita Choudhury, Michael Emerson, Leslie Uggams, Frances Turner, Dave Register, Zach Cherry, Johnny Pemberton, Rodrigo Luzzi, Annabel O’Hagan, and Xelia Mendes-Jones star.
