Fans have flocked to a building in New York City to lay flowers and messages following Matthew Perry’s sudden death.

They have paid tribute to the late actor by showing up at the apartment block in the West Village of Manhattan where his character Chandler Bing lived for the majority of Friends.

Many were touched by the sweet message, as one person wrote: “We all grew up watching Friends and it feels like our friend has pass[ed] away. Fly high Matthew Perry.”

Another said: “THE ONE WHERE WE MOURN.”

While a third shared: “A whole generation is grieving.”

The actor was reportedly found dead in his jacuzzi around 4pm.

Police officials said there were no drugs found at the scene, and no foul play is suspected.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Perry’s death is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department’s robbery-homicide detectives.

Following the tragic news, many flocked to social media to mourn the actor.

Maggie Wheeler, who played Perry’s on-screen girlfriend, Janice, on Friends, wrote to her Instagram: “What a loss. The world will miss you Matthew Perry. The joy you brought to so many in your too short lifetime will live on. I feel so very blessed by every creative moment we shared.”

The official Friends account on X penned: “We are devastated to learn of Matthew Perry’s passing. He was a true gift to us all. Our heart goes out to his family, loved ones, and all of his fans.”

While Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who knew Perry when he was young when his mother worked for his father, former Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau said he was ‘saddened’ to hear the news.

“Matthew Perry’s passing is shocking and saddening. I’ll never forget the schoolyard games we used to play, and I know people around the world are never going to forget the joy he brought them,” he said.

“Thanks for all the laughs, Matthew. You were loved – and you will be missed.”
