FBI Fatally Shoots Man Threatening President Biden After Social Media Alert

A Trump-owned social media site Truth Social warned the FBI in March of threats from a Utah man later identified as Craig Deleeuw Robertson, who was fatally shot by FBI agents during an attempted arrest for threatening President Joe Biden. Truth Social took action after Robertson posted a threat against Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg Jr., who is prosecuting Trump for allegations of falsifying business records involving a payment to Stormy Daniels.

Armed and unresponsive to commands from agents, Robertson was shot by them at his Provo home during the arrest attempt. He also faced federal charges for death threats against Biden, Bragg, and FBI agents.

The incident took place just hours before President Biden’s visit to Utah. Robertson had previously posted a message mentioning Biden’s visit and his possession of a sniper rifle.

According to the FBI complaint, Robertson was identified as a white man of perhaps mid-70s who seemed to be wearing Trump-related apparel and had a history of making threats toward government officials. The first tip came from a social media company and its name wasn’t mentioned in the complaint but later that same company confirmed it contacted the FBI.

Trump Media & Technology Group introduced Truth Social in 2021 following Trump’s ban from Twitter. The latter took this action due to concerns about potential violence incitement following the Capitol riot by his supporters.

The FBI said its Inspection Division is investigating Robertson’s death.
