Hailing from Joshua Tree, rock duo FireBug releases their latest single, “Red, White and Blue, a track from their forthcoming album produced by two-time Grammy-winner Adrian Bushby.
Jules of the band explains, “This is a song about peace, coming together, and moving away from the divisiveness that has permeated much of our culture here in the U.S. It’s also about recognizing the struggles of everyday people that come from all backgrounds who are just trying to live their lives free from the burdens that plague us all in varying degrees. We have more in common than what separates us. Ultimately, love is better than hate and there is hope the American dream is still attainable for us all.”
FireBug’s sound blends elements of modern rock and tints of New Orleans panache with touches of blues and folk into a unique sound. The band duo has shared the stage with artists like Iggy Pop, The Cult, Tom Morello, Donovan, and Iron Maiden, along with performances at The Viper Room, The Roxy, and The Echo to festivals such as SXSW, Firelight Festival, and the French Quarter Festival. In the UK, FireBug has performed at Camden’s Dublin Castle and The Halfmoon London.
“Red, White and Blue” rolls out on a snare-based shuffle flowing into a retro-laced melody made up of indie-rock, blues, and pop tangs. Vaguely reminiscent of Jefferson Airplane, The Cranberries, and 4 Non Blondes, there’s a beguiling edge to the vocals, at once restless and wickedly alluring, swelling with resonant urgency.
A rasping, dirty guitar infuses the tune with jagged energy that, juxtaposed against the gripping vocals, gives the song tight, immediacy.
Highlighted by more ambitious energy, mirror-like harmonies, and mounting sonic nuances, “Red, White and Blue” is electrifying.
