Francis Ng Is Replaced by Jordan Chan in “Captain Season”

Already into its 4th season, Chinese variety show Captain Season is seen as a reality show version of Triumph in the Skies , and the production team has invited the original cast members to join the show. While Chilam Cheung (張智霖), Bosco Wong (黃宗澤), and Ron Ng (吳卓羲) reprised their suave selves in pilot uniforms in the recently dropped promotional video, Francis Ng (吳鎮宇), who played Sam in the drama, is notably absent, seemingly replaced by actor and singer Jordan Chan (陳小春) – rumored to be due to Francis’ alleged fallout with Mango TV.

Into its 4th season, Captain Season focused initially on workplace newbies, while two subsequent seasons delved into forensics on the job. Themed around newcomers in the aviation industry, the promotional video for this season featured Chilam Cheung, Bosco Wong and Ron Ng, as well as scenes of Jordan Chan learning to fly a plane, but netizens got curious about Francis’ absence, despite such a complete lineup.

In fact, Francis Ng had previously participated in Where Are We Going, Dad? Season 2 with his son, Feynman, but the latter sustained a scar on his forehead while filming. While the production team claimed it was a minor accident while the child was playing and that he was fine after hospital treatment, Francis publicly criticized them, with both insides refusing to budge. Consequently, it was thus unsurprising that Francis Ng was not included in the new show, and it appears that a collaboration will be difficult to achieve.
