“Fright Krewe” Renewed, “Joe Pickett” Axed

Paramount+

DreamWorks Animation’s ten-episode animated horror series “Fright Krewe,” which was released four weeks ago, has been renewed for a second season at Hulu and Peacock. The second season is targeting a 2024 launch.

Eli Roth and James Frey created the series in which an ancient prophecy and a Voodoo Queen put misfit teens in charge of saving New Orleans from the biggest demonic threat it’s faced in almost two centuries.

It’s one of two young-skewing horror series from DreamWorks, the other being “Curses!” on Apple TV+ which premiered late last week and has John Krasinski as executive producer.

The news isn’t so good for drama series “Joe Pickett” which has been cancelled at Paramount+ after two seasons. Both seasons will remain available on the service for now.

Originally commissioned as a Spectrum Original in early 2021, the first season aired there late that year and a second moved to Paramount+ in June this year.

Kiwi actor Michael Dorman (“For all Mankind,” “Patriot,” “One Piece”) played a Wyoming game warden investigating crimes revolving around grisly murders, anti-hunting activists and more.

John Erick Dowdle and Drew Dowdle created the show which was based on the novels by C.J. Box.
