Gabourey Sidibe is a glowing mommy of two.
The actress and husband Brandon Frankel welcomed twins to their growing family. The Shade Room exclusively reported the news, sharing photos of the couple and the two infants.
In the images, Sidibe and Frankel hold the babies, switching poses and settings from indoors to outside. The children are dressed in onesies, one with pink details, the other blue. The babies were born in early April.
“Brandon always wanted to name a son Cooper, so we call him ‘Coop,’ and Maya was named shortly before our baby moon to the Mayan Riviera in Mexico,” Sidibe shared, per TSR. “Both twins have traditional West African middle names after members of my family.”
She continued, “Cooper will sometimes speak for Maya and alert us that she’s about to spit up. Maya loves her name being sung to her and is the queen of comedic timing, and Cooper loves his sleep and has the funniest facial expressions. They both love cuddling with Mom and Dad.”
In the interview, the 41-year-old also shared details of her labor story.
“We originally were going in for a routine appointment, only to be told the twins would be coming later that day and not when originally planned,” the Oscar-nominated talent described.
The couple first revealed their pregnancy in February, sharing the news across social media.
“We thought it was time to give our cats some responsibility so we’re giving them each a baby to take care of! Double the babies, double the cats, double the fun!! Twin Delivery coming soon! Twinty Twinty Four!!,” joked Sidibe at the time.
She and Frankel were engaged in December 2020 and married in March 2021. They chose to keep their union private until December 2022.
