Gunna Gets Called A “Rat” On BET Awards Red Carpet

Gunna‘s been riding high for the last year, but he still can’t escape the snitch allegations.

A stranger walked up to him and called him a “rat” while on the red carpet at the 2024 BET Awards.

“Gunna Wunna, man. You can’t be in the city doing all that ratting sh*t,” the man said as he approached the Atlanta rapper while recording the interaction. “You rat a** ni**a.”

The man seemingly wasn’t willing to stand on business, as he walked away from the “Fukumean” rapper and turned the camera off right when one of his female associates approached him.

Despite the brief interaction, the stranger felt it was worth posting on Instagram. “Don’t come to LA . We not messin with no *rat emoji*, #FreeThug #stopsnitchin #gunna #ysl.” This was of course about the One Of Wun artist taking an Alford Plea in the YSL RICO case, which has allowed him to move freely over the last year and a half while Young Thug still faces trial.

Instagram users were not fond of this man provoking Gunna in that way. “This wasn’t cool at all,” one person wrote in the comments. “This night was meant to celebrate our culture, and you’re out here messing around. If you were serious, why did you run off and wanted to record it? Trying to go viral for the most ridiculous things is just lame. Let’s leave this bottom-of-the-barrel mentality behind.”

“Why you ain’t stand there,” another person asked. “And stand on what you said.” Another user wrote, “Hella soft and corny for this.”

Gunna hasn’t been derailed by the negativity. His latest album One Of Wun debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, No. 1 on the top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, and sold 91,000 album-equivalent units. The album featured Offset, Roddy Ricch, Normani, and Leon Bridges. He linked up with Offset again this past week for their collaboration “Style Rare.” Watch below.
