Thailand’s original cannabis party is returning for its eighth outing – the second of the New Weed Era – at a new location.
Hip-hop fixture Joey Boy, the velvet-voiced Rasmee Isan Soul, and the Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band were among acts announced yesterday for the two-day Thailand 420 Festival taking place July 8-9 in Chatuchak at the JJ Mall.
Highland was founded by Rattapon “Guide” Sanrak with the crazy idea that cannabis would one day be decriminalized. Its raison d’etre was to educated the public and advocate for legal weed.

So, mission accomplished, right? We asked the groups Arun Avery what Highland means in today’s post decriminalization world.
“Whether its legal or not, there will always be a cannabis community, and the event represents it,” he said Friday morning. “Despite the hazy future of cannabis’s legality, our contribution to advocacy will never end, and this event is another beacon for the like-minded to come and support the movement, and for those that object to the legality of cannabis to see that it has supporters.”
Highland’s 420 event will light up 3pm to midnight at JJ Mall near the Chatuchak Weekend Market, which is a short walk from MRT Kamphaeng Phet or a short ride from BTS Chatuchak.

In a throwback to the festival’s earlier iterations atop Fortune Town, it will go down on the mall’s sixth-floor rooftop.
Attendees must be at least 20. Tickets are THB600 for one-day passes and THB1,000 for both and on sale now online.
