Following a lawsuit filed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Epic Games is now handing out refunds in Fortnite. This guide will help you figure out if you’re eligible for the same, and claim it as well.
If you’re someone who’s accidentally made a purchase in Fortnite, there’s a chance that you’ll be getting your money back. In a recent settlement with the FTC, Epic Games is finally handing out refunds for accidental purchases within their battle royale.
Not everyone is eligible for a refund, so here’s a guide that will help you check if you’re eligible for it or not. And if you are eligible, here’s how you can file your claim for the same.
How to check for Fortnite refund eligibility
As per the FTC website, if you fall in one of the three criteria mentioned below, you will be eligible for a refund. The criteria are as follows:
You were charged in-game currency for items you didn’t want between January 2017 and September 2022.
Your child made charges to your credit card without your knowledge between January 2017 and November 2018.
Your account was locked between January 2017 and September 2022 after you complained to your credit card company about wrongful charges.
If your case doesn’t match any of the criteria mentioned above, then unfortunately, you won’t be eligible for a refund in Fortnite. However, if you do, here’s how you can file a claim.

How to file a claim
Epic Games
You need to file a refund claim by January 17, 2024.
To file a claim, you will have to visit the refund website to file a claim. On the website, you need to enter your claim number. This claim number can be found in the email that you received from the FTC. In case, you haven’t received an email, then enter your Epic Games account ID.

Follow the details mentioned on the screen properly, and you will have filed your claim successfully. However, do keep in mind that you have to be 18 years old to complete a Fortnite refund claim form. In case you’re not 18, you need your parent/guardian to do it for you.
