Of all the things we didn’t have on our IEM Sydney Semi-Finals bingo card, Complexity making the Grand Final is certainly up there. Prior to this match, we’d have had G2 nailed on to win the entire thing, especially with the crowd support for Aussie native jks. It wasn’t to be though, with Complexity rolling G2 in a 2:0 series. Across both maps, G2 never even put up enough rounds to take a single map!

Ultimately, this was a series won and lost on an individual level. On Complexity’s side, not a single player let the team down, and the freedom that EliGE is enjoying right now has produced results that are a far cry from his last 12 months in Liquid. But for G2, it was only m0NESY that was up to the standard during the IEM Sydney Semi-Finals. When NiKo is putting up 13 kills across two maps, you’ve got a serious problem.

FaZe Kill The MOUZ

FaZe Clan truly are the early masters of CS2. After absolutely demolishing ENCE in yesterday’s IEM Sydney 2023 Quarter-Finals, FaZe faced a young MOUZ team, defying the odds with stand-in Nexius. Once again though, FaZe proved that their resurgence in this tournament hasn’t been a fluke. This is a properly rejuvenated FaZe Clan. Where they looked defeated and out of ideas during the final CS:GO tournaments, here they looked like champions-elect and ready to face any opposition.

This series was no slight against MOUZ. When they have Jimpphat back in place of Nexius, they’ve got what it takes to really challenge the big boys. But when this FaZe roster are playing like this, with ropz going 38:17 across two maps and Twistzz playing every round like it’s a DM session, they’re unstoppable. The big stage is FaZe Clan’s home turf, and you’ve got to pull out something really special to beat them there.

Now, FaZe face off against Complexity in the IEM Sydney 2023 Grand Final. The chance for these teams to write their names into Counter-Strike 2 history is one they can’t let pass them by. Even with Complexity’s form, our money’s on FaZe.
