In Paris, Messika Celebrates Its New High Jewelry Collection With Two Glittering Parties

Valérie Messika had a big week in Paris. To honor the unveiling of Messika’s latest high jewelry collection “The White Midnight Sun” she hosted not one, but two celebrations. Both events were held at the Hôtel de Crillon, where she was displaying the high jewelry collection—on Tuesday, Messika hosted an intimate dinner of 20 people, while on Wednesday, a cocktail party on Wednesday had the face of the new collection, Lucien Laviscount, as guest of honor.

The first event offered dinner guests a chance to see the jewelry up close. (A few lucky people even tried the 250-carat diamond necklace on to coos of delight.) As guests settled in for dinner, Messika raised a glass as she thanked everyone for their support. Chatter quickly turned to Vogue World, which had happened the night before. A personal highlight for Messika was seeing Bad Bunny wear her pieces as part of his closing performance. “I woke up to find my kids jumping up and down with excitement—to have Bad Bunny wear my jewelry was such a dream,” she said. It was a clear sign of Messika’s success after making her first forays into men’s high jewelry—hence Laviscount’s appearance in her new campaign opposite supermodel Natalia Vodianova.

Wednesday saw a more lively scene, as 200 people gathered on the balcony of the Crillon, including Teyana Taylor, Jordyn Woods, Karl-Anthony Towns, Dadju, Elsa Zylberstein, Kristy Sarah Scott, Kylie Verzosa, Leonie Hanne. Guests admired the striking jewelry presentation as smoked salmon blinis and arancini were passed around, while special cocktails were inspired by (and named after) pieces from the collection, such as Le Star Chaser and Le Disco Pulsation.

Messika noted she was overwhelmed by all of the people who had come out to support her. “This collection is very special to me—with more than 2,400 diamonds and nearly 300 hours of work in the atelier, these spectacular pieces represent my vision for Messika Couture Fine Jewelry,” she said. “As with all the jewelry I design, there are elements of modernity and playfulness within the collection.” Messika’s fresh perspective on the high jewelry landscape—and a few of those Le Disco Pulsation cocktails, no doubt—had guests dancing the night away.
