Jamie xx will bring his club residency, the Floor, to New York and Los Angeles this summer, after launching the night at London’s Venue MOT earlier this year. The DJ will bring surprise guests to the residencies in Bushwick and downtown Los Angeles, with venues to be revealed later. The Brooklyn dates run from July 23-27 before he settles in in Los Angeles from July 30 to August 3. His new album, In Waves, will follow on September 20; the dates are preceded by his headline set at Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago.
Elaborating on the concept, Jamie xx said in a press release, “For years I’ve been dreaming of opening my own club, a place that represents my experiences in the best of London’s underground club scene; the intimacy, the community, the curation, the sound.… We debuted this concept in London at Venue MOT for 10-nights in May and I’m excited to announce we’ll bring the Floor to Brooklyn and Los Angeles for 5-nights in each city this month. See you on the Floor.”
Guests at the London dates included Charlil XCX and George Daniel, Romy, Daphni, Jockstrap, Axel Boman, and Two Shell.
