Music startup Hooky, specializing in artist-first solutions in voice AI, launches its subscription platform with voice models of artists including Jay Sean, Eric Bellinger, Bonnie x Clyde, Chase Paves, and Sarah Phillips, with more on the way.

The platform is now open to creators, artists, and labels, offering a suite to handle everything from music creation to licensing and distribution. Hooky’s online subscription includes premium AI voice models for artists like British R&B singer Jay Sean, R&B artist Eric Bellinger, electronic dance duo Bonnie x Clyde, eclectic R&B singer Chase Paves, ethereal pop/soul vocalist Sarah Phillips, and additional artists slated to join in the coming months.

Founded by producer, mixer, and songwriter Jordan “DJ Swivel” Young, Hooky puts artists in the driver’s seat and in control of who uses their voice. “We want artists to maintain control over what’s most personal and sacred to them — their voice,” said Young.

“I’m a creator first and passionate about building a community and resources for artists and producers to explore new possibilities and uncharted territory. Hooky’s goal is to give creators a human reason to use AI technology, to benefit and connect more deeply with their fans around the world.”

“Whether or not you embrace AI, what the music industry actually needs now is a way to control how our voices are used,” said Jay Sean. “Hooky allows that to happen in a safe way that protects us as artists. I’m genuinely curious how creators will use my voice in their own work and so long as I am in control of what work is commercially released, then I can’t wait to hear what is made.”

Hooky also launches with two Talkbox voice models, as well as nine virtual artists. These unique AI vocal models are only available on Hooky and are free to use without a license. The Hooky virtual artists have their own human-originated AI voice model and visual presence on the platform with lifelike artist photos. These voices can be used across any style of music, complementing a wide variety of genres from country, R&B, Top 40 pop and rap to Latin, singer-songwriter, EDM, and more.

“We’re focused on building revenue streams and collaborations for the industry’s most celebrated artists, up-and-comers, while also driving careers of next-gen AI artists on our platform,” said Young. “We also see a future in which labels and artists will want to create their own next-generation, virtual AI artists with their own voice models. We’re eager to see how these new Hooky artist voices and tools will inspire creators to experiment and push the boundaries of their imagination.”

While music using premium artist voices like Jay Sean must be approved, licensed, and distributed to streaming platforms using Hooky, unlicensed Hooky virtual artists allow creators to distribute music using their preferred service. Music released using an AI voice model will always denote “AI” next to the artist’s name on streaming platforms to ensure transparent music credits for fans.

The first phase launch for Hooky sees the platform opening up for creators to experiment with its tools and artist AI voice models. Distribution services will follow in the coming weeks, so creators can schedule their new works for release in a legal and ethical manner.

“Every artist on our platform determines the rules of engagement, including approvals, approval times, royalty splits, and what they feel their voice is worth,” concludes Young. “That’s laid out up front in each artist’s AI voice profile before a user starts their new song.”

Hooky is free for non-commercial use and offers Basic, Advanced, and Pro subscription plans ranging from $10-$50 per month or $100-$500 annually, as well as a customized Enterprise option tailored to individual creators’ needs.
