Blackpink’s Jennie shared a video on her YouTube channel in which she uses a vape, leading to her reps issuing a statement apologizing for it on social media.

Jennie, the South Korean singer and actress best known as a member of the K-pop girl group Blackpink, has been caught up in a controversy by using a vape indoors. The 28-year-old was spotted in a vlog on her YouTube channel on July 2 in which she uses a vape while getting her hair and makeup done. Now, a week later, her reps have issued a statement apologizing for her actions on social media.

“We sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable with Jennie’s actions in the content released on the 2nd,” begins the statement released from OA Entertainment, a label founded by the singer in 2023. “Jennie acknowledges and deeply regrets her mistake of vaping indoors and causing inconvenience to the staff,” the statement continues.

“Jennie has personally apologized to all the staff on-site who may have been affected,” continues OA Entertainment. “We apologize to her fans who have been disappointed through this incident. We hope to prevent this from reoccurring in the future. Thank you.

The video on YouTube, “A Moment in Capri with Jennie,” has since been edited to remove the shot of her vaping indoors. The rest of the clip shows Jennie getting ready for her runway debut at fashion designer Jacquemus’ show in Italy on June 10.

Last year, Blackpink became the most-streamed female group on Spotify with over 8.8 billion, but Jennie’s also been making a splash as a solo artist since 2018. She co-starred in “The Idol” with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp, releasing two songs with them as a leading artist, “You & Me” and “One of the Girls.”

In May, she told Vogue Korea of her plans to release more solo music. “I’m spending almost all of my day working on music these days. I lost track of time. I’m working hard with a desire to share my music with more people and a bolder ambition, so please look forward to it.”
