Since the SAG-AFTRA Strike began in July, we’ve seen nearly every popular television show put on hold until negotiations end. With so much up in the air (or rather, off the air), many are wondering: WTF is there to watch?
Well, like it or not, Jeopardy! is spinning madly on—despite the strike. Perhaps it doesn’t spark the same excitement as Yellowjackets or Abbott Elementary, but the classic “game show with a twist” has been running since 1964, and it’s clearly not going anywhere soon. According to Deadline, the next few seasons of Jeopardy! will continue to be hosted by Ken Jennings—but in Season 40, he will become the sole host of the show. For a while, The Big Bang Theory actress, Mayim Bialik, was expected to join Jennings as a co-host, but she reportedly stepped away from the show in Season 39 amid the SAG-AFTRA strike. Jennings, of course, is a Jeopardy! pro, winning 74 games on the program. In 2021, he joined Jeopardy! as a host.
Jeopardy! might be one of the longest running franchises in history, but the producers have been working to keep things interesting. The show’s executive producer, Michael Davies, recently spoke about his plans for the future of the series on the Inside Jeopardy! podcast. According to Davies, Season 37 is a second-chance competition, featuring 27 former contestants who didn’t win. To offset travel costs, they’ve also increased the second and third place prizes by $1000.
