JEREMY: 25 years of action for the training and professional integration of young people.

WEBWIRE – Friday, January 19, 2024

The Air and Space Museum at Paris-Le Bourget Airport hosted the 25th  anniversary ceremony for the JEREMY association.

A quarter-century of supporting young people in the Paris region.
Created in 1998 on the initiative of Air France, JEREMY works to promote the professional integration of young people and, more broadly, jobseekers in the Paris region (Île-de-France) through opportunities based around Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Paris-Orly airports. JEREMY achieves this by offering training in a dozen or so operational professions across the airport sector. These training courses are free of charge for students, and subsidized by the Île-de-France Regional Council, the European Social Fund, AKTO and France Travail. Students are paid during their training.
At the end of their training and skills enhancement course, JEREMY is authorized to issue certain qualifying certifications, notably that of airport security agent.
In addition to Air France and Transavia, the JEREMY association now includes companies as varied as City Services, Groupe Europe Handling and its subsidiaries, Safesquare and Groupe ADP.

Air France, a founding member and driving force behind JEREMY.
As a founding member of the association, Air France is taking concrete action to promote equal opportunities and help young people find opportunities in the job market. The idea was the brainchild of Jean-Cyril Spinetta (CEO of Air France from 1997 to 2004, then of Air France-KLM from 2004 to 2013) and his teams. These activities are part of Air France’s global policy to contribute to the dynamism of the localities in which the company operates. This aspect of Air France’s human resources activities is integral to the company’s role as the leading private employer in the Paris region.
In the presence of Jean-Cyril Spinetta and Anne Rigail, Chief Executive Officer of Air France, the January 16th ceremony was an opportunity to celebrate a quarter-century of actions to help young people find employment, with a spotlight on the successful career paths of past participants.
The testimonies of eight former trainees, who are now cabin crew, ground staff, airport security agents or aircraft mechanics, movingly illustrated the key role played by JEREMY’s teams in their path to employment. Representatives from JEREMY’s member companies were also able to highlight their respective CSR actions to elected officials and representatives of local and national authorities, essential partners in the association’s development.
JEREMY’s success has been possible thanks to the commitment of a professional and dedicated team – made up of 12 people and around thirty instructors – that serves young people and jobseekers who lack job opportunities.
Since 1998 JEREMY’s work has:

Welcomed 13,031 trainees, an average of 520 per year.Achieved a 77% success rate, i.e., the number of company contracts secured in relation to the number of trainees completing their vocational training.Resulted in 5,431 signed contracts (fixed-term contracts of at least 6 months or open-ended contracts) by the end of 2022.

JEREMY plays a crucial role for many young people and jobseekers in creating opportunities and opening up real prospects. A positive momentum has now been created, with former JEREMY trainees in turn mentoring new JEREMY trainees.
Air France wishes JEREMY another 25 years of success and reaffirms its full support of the association’s work
