In a welcome move last year, Marvel Studios decided to embrace its seemingly abandoned Marvel Television legacy. As a result, the assorted Marvel Netflix series made their way to Disney+ and the official MCU timeline.
Similarly, next year’s “Daredevil: Born Again” was retooled and is now essentially bringing back many of the core actors from the series during its Netflix days, including Charlie Cox (Daredevil), Vincent D’Onofrio (The Kingpin) and Jon Bernthal (The Punisher) along with several supporting characters.
It begs the question, who else could come back? Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter and Finn Jones led individual series as Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand/Iron Fist respectively. They also teamed up with Cox’s Daredevil in “The Defenders” series.
Speaking with THR recently, Ritter repeated similar comments she’s made in the past that she’s eager to take on the Jessica Jones role again:
“100% [I would return as Jessica Jones]. I am ready, and I would, of course, be there in a heartbeat. She’s a character who I absolutely love, and she was a part of my life for so long. I played that character for five years, and she’s a character who’s very important to me and many women and men. So if the opportunity calls, I may or may not have an extra jacket already [Laughs]”
Meanwhile in a recent interview with The Nerd Shepherd, Jones says he’d love to come back, especially if it means he and Colter can do that “Heroes for Hire” series:
“[There’s] a lot of room for growth with that character… I think I’m in a place professionally where I would like to continue to grow with that character. I would love to see the chemistry between me and Mike again. It was always fantastic. I think those are really interesting characters to put together. If they would bring me and Mike back to do a Heroes For Hire TV series, I think it would be the right way.”
Whilst Ritter returning seems quite possible, Jones is less clear – especially with online chatter that the upcoming animated series “Eyes of Wakanda” introduces a new Iron Fist – one with an Asian actor taking on the Lin Lie incarnation of the hero.
Ritter was most recently in the spin-off series “Orphan Black: Echoes,” Colter can currently be seen in the fourth and final season of the acclaimed series “Evil” on Paramount+ and Jones recently worked on the Starz series “The Venery of Samantha Bird” which was scrapped mid-production during the strikes.
