John Williams wants to set the record straight about his retirement plans.

Renowned composer John Williams has taken back his retirement statement, stating that he’d be open to composing a movie again if it is interesting to him and if it had a schedule that he could “cope with.”
In an interview with The Times newspaper, Williams wanted to clarify what he said in 2022 about Indiana Jones 5 being his final movie.
“I don’t care much for grand pronunciamentos, statements that are firm and finished and surrounded by closed doors. If I made one without putting it in context then I withdraw it.”

Williams explained that he’s open to composing more films as long as they’re interesting to him and that, above all, it’s important to “keep an open mind” and not to close doors if you don’t have to.
“If a film came along that I was greatly interested in, with a schedule that I could cope with, then I wouldn’t want to rule anything out. Everything is possible. All is before us. Only our limitations are holding us back. Or, to put it more simply: I like to keep an open mind.”
John Williams is a multi-award-winning composer and has worked on various films. These include Star Wars, Harry Potter, Jaws, Indiana Jones, and many more. As of right now, Williams isn’t working on any films. Instead, he’s touring Europe, composing his music that’ll keep him busy for 2024. On top of that, Williams will be guest-conducting in Berlin for 2025.
