Jonah Hill’s ex has accused the actor of ’emotional abuse’ in a series of Instagram stories.
Over the weekend, surfer Sarah Brady, who dated the actor for a year between 2021 and 2022, shared a series of screenshots allegedly between the pair on her Instagram.
In one of the first slides, Brady shared a screen recording of what appears to be a text conversation with Hill.
She captioned the video: “This is a warning to all girls. If your partner is talking to you like this, make an exit plan.”
The video shows Hill allegedly sending the surfer screenshots of photos and videos from her Instagram that he wants her to remove.
“I’ve made my boundaries clear,” Hill allegedly wrote in the text messages.
“You refuse to let go of some of [the pictures] and you’ve made that clear.”
Brady then shared a screenshot of a list of things Hill allegedly told her she needed to remove from her life if she wanted to have a relationship with him. The list included ‘surfing with men, post pictures of yourself in a bathing suit’ and ‘friendships with women who are in unstable places’.
“I am not the right partner for you. If these things bring you to a place of happiness, I support it and there will be no hard feelings. These are my boundaries for romantic partnership,” Hill allegedly wrote to the surfer.
“My boundaries with you, based on the ways these actions have hurt our trust.”
Brady also claims Hill told her to say, ‘I’m going to go talk to my boyfriend’ and paddle away if a male surfer approaches her in the water.
The surfer said she was sharing her story now for the sake of her mental health.
“Sharing this publicly now because keeping it to myself was causing more damage to my mental health than sharing it could ever do,” she wrote on her story.
“I too struggle with mental health. It’s been a year of healing and growth with the help of loved ones and doctors to get back to living my life without guilt, shame, and self-judgement for things as small as surfing in a swimsuit rather than a more conservative wetsuit,” she continued.
In the stories, Brady made it clear she is not accusing Hill of physical abuse and that she does not believe he is a ‘terrible person’.
“Someone being an emotionally abusive partner doesn’t mean they’re a terrible person (often stems from their own trauma) and at the same time it doesn’t mean it’s ok,” she wrote.
Hill has not responded to Brady’s allegations at the time of publishing.
