As per the latest development, a selfie point near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir has emerged as a prominent attraction for tourists. This is essentially because this place offers them a captivating opportunity to capture the breathtaking beauty of Uri’s remote border region while enjoying a panoramic view of the Jhelum river.
This remarkable site, also known as the INDIA selfie point, not only showcases the natural splendour of this region, but also fosters a sense of nationalism among visitors, creating a unique and engaging environment.

Reports add that last year, the Army had introduced the ‘Kaman Setu’ zero-point at the LoC, offering tourists access to the region. Subsequently, the selfie point, a brainchild of artist and RNAF founder Rouble Nagi, was unveiled to the public around Republic Day this year. Strategically positioned along National Highway-44, this structure provides a sweeping view of the picturesque Jhelum river, contributing to the local pride and enhancing the overall tourist experience.

Rouble Nagi, daughter of a retired Army officer and the artistic mind behind the creation, sees sculpting the name of the nation through her art installation as a tribute to the sacrifices made by various sections of society for the country’s freedom. She expressed her pride in installing the sculpture #INDIA at Uri, emphasising the profound significance of honouring the sacrifices that have secured the freedom enjoyed today.
While urging people to include Uri as part of their tourist destinations, Nagi focussed on the importance of recognising the sacrifices made for freedom. Her impact extends beyond the INDIA selfie point, as she has played a pivotal role in establishing selfie points in various locations across Kashmir, including the revamped Polo View market, Rajbagh, and Dal Lake.
