Kashmir’s Aharbal witnesses a surge in tourist arrivals amidst recent snowfall

Aharbal, a pretty but a lesser-known hill station in the Kashmir Valley, experienced massive snowfall recently which resulted in heavy tourists in flow. The hill station, noted for its spectacular waterfall, is often dubbed as the Niagara Falls of Kashmir.

An official mentioned that Aharbal, about 27 km from Kulgam town in south Kashmir, is attracting both local residents and visitors from afar after the fresh snowfall. He noted that the tourist spot experienced a remarkable surge in visitors last year, with a record-breaking 310,000 tourists, marking a significant threefold increase compared to previous years.

“The Kulgam district administration is preparing for a grand winter carnival in the coming days. This festival will feature a range of activities aimed at attracting more tourists to Aharbal,” the official further stated.

Ghalib Mohiuddin Shah, Chief Executive Officer of Aharbal Development Authority (ADA), noted the increase in tourist activity at Aharbal following the recent snowfall. “The snow-covered Aharbal has witnessed a surge in tourists, which is expected to boost the local business sector,” he explained.

Tourists visiting Aharbal were greeted with awe-inspiring views of snow-clad trees and mountains, evoking a sense of wonder and tranquility.

Shah highlighted that all routes leading to the tourist destination are now free of snow, urging all tourists to come and experience the breathtaking beauty of this winter wonderland. He also assured ample accommodation and facilities for both local visitors and tourists.
