According to official records, Kaziranga saw 327,493 footfalls in the previous fiscal year. Among them, 313,574 were domestic while 13,919 were foreigners. A total revenue of INR 88,184,161 was collected.
Comparatively, in the 2022-23 fiscal year, there were 314,796 visitors, generating revenue of Rs 83,385,383. An official noted that this surge in tourist numbers and revenue marked the highest since the park was established in 1974, though it was officially established in 1905.
The park, known for its beautiful landscapes, diverse wildlife, and iconic species, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has become a favored destination for families and wildlife enthusiasts in recent times, according to the statement.
The 2021-22 period had also been prosperous for the park, with 275,000 visitors and revenue collection of INR 6 crore during the tourist season from October 2021 to May 2022. On average, the park typically attracts around 180,000 tourists annually.
