Grandson is preceded by the release of the album’s second single, “Heartless,” featuring Tee Grizzley, further fueling excitement among eager fans. The project is scheduled to hit the airwaves on July 14. With the album available for pre-save on Apple Music, listeners prepare to immerse themselves in King Von’s compelling musical legacy again.

On July 7, King Von’s camp treated fans to the second single from Grandson: The Album,  “Heartless.” This track boasts a notable collaboration with fellow rapper Tee Grizzley, who previously worked with King Von before his untimely passing in 2020.

The release of “Heartless” builds upon the anticipation of the album’s first single, “Robberies,” which dropped on June 23. The combined efforts of King Von and Tee Grizzley showcase their artistic synergy and contribute to the overall impact of the forthcoming album.

Fans flooded the late rapper’s official Instagram comments with messages of support and excitement upon the announcement of Grandson: The Album. Eager for new material, these dedicated followers had eagerly awaited news of his next posthumous release since the debut of “Robberies.”

One fan showcased his gratitude for all the music King Von left behind, commenting, “Thank you for all the music you left behind.”

The late Chicago drill rapper’s former manager once claimed Von had around 200-300 unreleased songs ready for release in a 2021 interview.

Two of XXXTentacion’s albums — 17 (2017) and ? (2018) — made the Top 10 of Rap Caviar’s 50 Most Streamed Hip-Hop Albums on Spotify, with his 2018 release topping off at #1. The late Florida rapper’s memory and popularity has been kept alive by a steady stream of music releases from his estate, a documentary on Hulu and the high-profile trial of the men convicted for his murder.

Late rappers XXXTentacion and King Von are set to receive posthumous releases, allowing their music to continue reaching fans even after their untimely deaths. XXXTentacion’s team recently dropped a new song titled “I’m Not Human” featuring Lil Uzi Vert, while King Von’s upcoming single “Robberies” is highly anticipated by his supporters.

Late South Florida rapper XXXTentacion, who gained widespread recognition through SoundCloud, continues to make an impact even five years after his passing. In April 2023, three individuals were sentenced to life in prison for his murder.

On June 18, the anniversary of his murder, XXX’s team released a new song titled “I’m Not Human.”

The track featured a collaboration with rapper Lil Uzi Vert and was released by Columbia Records. The decision to keep the original voice memo in the official version was made to honor the HOPE rapper’s artistic vision, reflecting his preference for authenticity.

The release of “I’m Not Human” came to fruition through conversations between Uzi, XXXTentacion’s longtime producer John Cunningham, and the late rapper’s mother, Cleo.

Similarly, King Von, another talented rapper who passed away prematurely, is receiving his posthumous release. Announced on his Instagram, the upcoming song titled, “Robberies” is scheduled for release on Friday, June 23.

Fans eagerly anticipate the song, which is expected to be the lead single for Von’s highly awaited posthumous album. While his team has not officially announced the album’s release date, the many unreleased songs left by the late rapper suggest an album announcement may be imminent.

The announcement of “Robberies” has received support and excitement from the Chicago native’s friends, fans, and fellow artists, including rapper Lil Durk.

Both late rappers’ posthumous releases allow their legacies to live on and offer fans a chance to continue connecting with their music. These releases honor the artists’ memory and provide comfort and a sense of closure to their devoted fan bases.

King Von recently made headlines for being the main subject of a recent YouTube documentary, King Von: Rap’s First Serial Killer. In the documentary, the late rapper was labeled a serial killer, being linked to multiple murders in his hometown.

While XXXTentacion and King Von receive posthumous releases, not all late artists have the same opportunity. The record label of the deceased rapper Pop Smoke recently declared that no more posthumous releases would be possible for him.
