In a breakthrough journey, Kochi water metros have begun operations from 21st April, 2024. The much-awaited ferry ride connects the High Court and Fort Kochi. The iconic event of the inauguration was witnessed by thousands of people.

The beginning of AC electric-hybrid ferries in Kochi was one of the most-awaited events. The commencement of the Kochi water metro service, linking the High Court with the newly completed Fort Kochi, marked a significant milestone.

Fort Kochi is an important tourism hub within Kochi, with ferries scheduled to operate every 20 to 30 minutes between 7 AM and 7 PM, offering convenient access for travellers. Priced at INR 40 per person, the ticket ensures affordable transportation across this scenic route.
Cochin Shipyard recently delivered the 14th ferry as part of the order placed by Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL). With a total order of 23 ferries, KMRL anticipates that the water metro service will alleviate traffic congestion in this popular tourist locale, as stated in a press release.
Kochi proudly leads India as the first city to initiate a water metro service, with the inaugural boat, named Muziris, launched in December 2021. Presently, Kochi Water Metro Rail Limited operates from eight terminals: Vyttila, High Court, Vypeen, Kakkanad, Bolgatty, South Chittoor, Cheranalloor, and Eloor.
