Lauren Boebert Pulled a “Do You Know Who I Am” After Being Escorted Out of the Beetlejuice Musical for “Causing a Disturbance”

In the year 2023, the Republican Party is lousy with elected officials whose vibe is a combination of “I want to speak to your manger,” “Do you know who am,” “How dare you suggest I’ve had too many wine coolers,” and “I’m currently appealing the decision to ban me from all peewee football games for harassing the other team.” If that description calls to mind any two lawmakers in particular, it would probably be none other than Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert. And on Sunday, Boebert did her part to show why!

The Denver Post reports that the Colorado congresswoman was “escorted out of a Sunday night performance of the Beetlejuice musical in downtown Denver,” after being accused by the venue of “vaping, singing, recording” and generally “causing a disturbance.” While an incident report viewed by the Post did not name Boebert and her companion, the lawmaker’s campaign confirmed she was escorted from the premises, only denying that she was vaping. The write-up noted that Boebert and her pal initially received a warning during intermission after three complaints from fellow theatergoers; about five minutes into the second act, security officials received “another complaint about the patrons being loud and…recording,” at which time they were apparently asked to leave. But, of course, Boebert did not go willingly.

According to the Post, the incident report quotes one of the ushers as saying, “They told me they would not leave. I told them that they need to leave the theater and if they do not, they will be trespassing. The patrons said they would not leave. I told them I would (be) going to get Denver Police. They said go get them.” Can you guess where things went from there?

Denver Arts & Venues on Tuesday night released security video showing Boebert’s interactions with theater staff as she and her companion were escorted out. The report said after the two patrons were escorted out and reached the building’s vestibule, they resisted leaving and said “stuff like ‘do you know who I am,’ ‘I am on the board’ (and) ‘I will be contacting the mayor.’”

Police arrived and stayed in the lobby of the Buell until Boebert and her companion left, according to the report.

As seen in the security footage, Boebert appeared to pause to take a selfie as she was being escorted out of the theater:

As the Post notes, Sunday wasn’t the first time Boebert’s actions caused law enforcement to get involved, having been “arrested and summonsed at least four times in the years leading up to her election to Congress in 2020.”

One more time for the cheap seats
