Lido Pimienta has shared a new song, “He Venido al Mar,” in both extended and abbreviated form. Listen to both versions below. The track is taken from the new comedy-drama movie Calladita, or The Quiet Maid, directed by Miguel Faus; the song’s title translates to “I’ve Come Down to the Sea.”
Calladita, which is presented by Steven Soderbergh, tells the story of a Colombian migrant who navigates mistreatment and neglect in an effort to make the most of her time on a luxurious estate in Costa Brava, Spain, where she is working for a family of rich art dealers. In a press release, Pimienta said, “I resonated with this character and her attitude to enjoy life no matter what and in every step of the way, with open eyes and a badass attitude. ‘I don’t know where I’m going, but I got joy in my heart.’ It’s all about that line, never lowering our gaze, for nobody, never cowering or apologizing for being ourselves and to always and forever defend our right to be joyful and free.”
Lido Pimienta’s last album was 2020’s Miss Colombia.
