The self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet will exhibit “Little Hill Stories” by Janice George-Harris at the 2024 Hong Kong Book Fair. The book fair will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai, Hong Kong, on July 17-23, 2024.
The Hong Kong Book Fair (HKBF) is an international book fair organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC). The fair stands out as a significant platform for cultural exchange in Hong Kong and on an international level. The HKBK showcases a wide variety of books, ranging from the latest popular fiction to children’s and teen’s books and more, as well as an extensive range of stationery, art, crafts, and other multimedia products.
“Little Hill Stories” is a children’s book that follows Roosevelt George in his boyhood. The story takes place in the 1950s in North Sound, a traditional village of Virgin Gorda in the Virgin Islands. Roosevelt George takes the readers into his uncanny adventures, mischief, classroom and church experiences, jumbie fright, and the chores of the boys and girls. The themes in the book embrace the traditional customs of the 1950s.
This book engages readers in the fun activities available for teachers, students, parents, and community centers. Author Janice George-Harris consulted the elders in the community to put an accurate portrayal of traditions in her book through Roosevelt. Some of the words and terms in the book are no longer used in the Virgin Islands or the Caribbean in general.
Visitors to the 2024 Hong Kong Book Fair can find “Little Hill Stories” displayed at the ReadersMagnet exhibit. Visitors are invited to visit the booth to check out the book’s display.
“Little Hill Stories” by Janice George-Harris will soon be available at the launch of the author’s website. Connect with the author through “Little Hill Stories”, the book’s official Facebook page.
