Sony Pictures Animation has had stunning critical and box-office success with its award-winning animated sequel “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse”.
Of course, that film ends on a massive cliffhanger with the conclusion “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” already slated for a March release and many looking forward to it.
Cut to last week and Vulture posted an extensive article speaking with several crew members who claimed unsustainable working conditions are behind the film.
Drawing a lot of attention in that piece was comments from one artist working on the film who claims there is no way that ‘Beyond the Spider-Verse’ could make that March date.
Whilst the studio and producer Amy Pascal have already commented on the claims within the report, and producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller have now responded.
Speaking with ComicBook.com whilst promoting the new season of Apple TV+ series “The After Party,” Lord and Miller were asked about a potential delay of ‘Beyond’. Lord responded: “I would say that just like we’re going to take the time necessary to make Beyond the Spider-Verse great.”
Miller then added: “And we won’t back into a release date that doesn’t fit.” In other words, if the film isn’t ready they won’t release it at that time.
For now, Sony Pictures still has “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse” set to swing into theaters on March 29th 2024.
