Meta has announced that its Quest 3 will launch on October 10th at a starting price of $499 (128GB) and $649 (512Gb). Both models will come with a free copy of “Asgard’s Wrath 2” when it’s released in December.

The news was part of the company’s two-day virtual Meta Connect event, and it is said to be the “first mainstream mixed-reality headset” as it offers both virtual reality and augmented reality.

The headset features a 40% slimmer profile, 30% better resolution screens, a GPU with twice the performance, redesigned Touch Plus controllers, and hand tracking. It will also be compatible with Quest 2’s library of over 500 VR games, apps and experiences.

It has also been announced that a version of Roblox has been optimised for VR and is launching for Quest headsets today. Xbox Cloud Gaming is also coming to Meta Quest 3 in December.

One of the forthcoming titles for the Quest 3 will be a “Stranger Things VR” game which launches November 30th. The tech can be used to open an in-game portal to the Upside Down universe that can appear to be on the wall of your own living room.

Also coming is an “Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR” title, and an AR game called “Lego Bricktales” that lets you play with virtual Legos. There’s also “Mini-Puft Mayhem” which ties into the upcoming “Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord” game and will see mischievous Mini-Puft marshmallow ghosts invade your living room.
