Yes, Mike White also wrote ‘The Emoji Movie’ and ‘School of Rock’.
The official trailer for animated comedy Migration is here, giving us a glimpse of a family road trip comedy but with ducks. It’s also written by The White Lotus creator and dysfunctional family holiday expert Mike White, though it will probably be closer to his previous work on The Emoji Movie.
The film follows a family of ducks living in New England: dad Mack (Kumail Nanjiani), mother Pam (Elizabeth Banks), teenage son Dax (Caspar Jennings), and young daughter Gwen (Tresi Gazal). Inspired by stories told to them by migrating ducks, Pam convinces a less enthusiastic Mack to take the family on a trip to Jamaica. Unfortunately their trip south is far from straightforward, with the Mallards soon finding themselves waylaid in New York City.
The film also features Awkwafina, Carol Kane, Keegan-Michael Key, David Mitchell, and Danny DeVito. It’s directed by French filmmaker Benjamin Renner, who previously directed the Oscar-nominated Ernest & Celestine.
Migration lands in theatres Dec. 22.
