During her last performance of 2023, Monica seemingly passed out backstage during her set on Saturday night (Dec. 30) in Houston. According to TMZ, the “Angel Of Mine” singer was seen being carried out by one of her crew members and reportedly left the concert in an ambulance. The cause behind the alleged fainting spell is unclear.
“The Houston streets are talking! They’re saying Monica left in an ambulance after passing out by the stairs,” a fan wrote on Twitter, alongside a clip from Monica’s concert. “They say she came out late; 10:35 and people were walking out by 11:05. Concertgoers do say something seemed off.”
Throughout her life, the 43-year-old has dealt with several health issues, including a heart condition—mitral valve prolapse, which she’s had since age 18—high blood pressure, and endometriosis.
Monica has not publicly addressed the recent medical scare, nor has she updated her social media platforms since Dec. 22. However, her next performance, per Ticketmaster, isn’t scheduled until late January.
Fans have begun sending prayers and well wishes to the singer, despite rumors that have surfaced claiming that she was faking being ill. One tweeted, “I hope my Monica is okay, this is too much,” while another chimed in, “They accusing her of faking it girl. They say she did this last year when them notes wasn’t hitting.”
Back in December, Monica confirmed her split from rapper C-Murder and cleared the air regarding her former beef with Brandy.
“We are more than good,” explained the mother of three. “As far as she and I go, a lot of what people hear is about two teenage girls. Now we’re two grown women, that’s a completely different thing. So it’s something that I kind of wish would go away, to be very honest. I wish people would stop putting the two against each other. I wish people would stop attempting to compare who sing better, who looks better, who outdid the other one, because I never came into the space with a spirit of competition anyway.”
