MONSTA X’s Hyungwon enlisted in the military today!
On November 14, Hyungwon officially entered the military training center to begin basic training ahead of his service as an active duty soldier.
MONSTA X shared photos of Shownu, I.M, and Hyungwon’s “CEO-dol Mart” co-stars EXO’s Xiumin, Choi Won Myeong, and Lee Sae On sending off Hyungwon at the military training center on their official X account. One post includes a message from Hyungwon who wrote, “As always, I’ll work hard and stay healthy. I’ll do well and when I return, I’ll be strong and reliable enough to block the wind easily. Let’s greet each other warmly when that time comes.”

Another post reads, “Thank you for coming a long way even in this chilly weather for Hyungwon!”
Before officially enlisting, Hyungwon took to Instagram to show off his new buzz cut as he humorously wrote, “My hair dries in just 3 seconds.”
Through his agency Starship Entertainment, Hyungwon further conveyed, “I will complete my military service in good health and return, so I wish that all MONBEBE [MONSTA X’s official fan club] will be happy too until the day we meet again. Please look forward to the cool return of MONSTA X [as a group] when I come back. I will spend this time wisely as Chae Hyungwon rather than MONSTA X’s Hyungwon so I can show you a more mature side of me once all MONSTA X gathers together again.”
Fellow member I.M also shared a photo of Hyungwon to his Instagram Story accompanied by the message, “I love you, Hyung. Serve and return well.”
EXO’s Xiumin further posted an extra photo of the “CEO-dol Mart” cast together with Hyungwon on his Instagram Story with the words, “Hyungwon, serve well and return safely!”
Last month, Hyungwon announced his military enlistment date through a sweet handwritten letter on MONSTA X’s fan cafe. Hyungwon is the fifth member of MONSTA X to enlist in the military following Shownu, who was discharged this spring, and Minhyuk, Joohoney, and Kihyun, who are currently serving in the military.
