In the hours before it goes on general sale tomorrow, the Nintendo Switch version of “Mortal Kombat 1” has been on the receiving end of harsh criticism from fans and reviewers who have scored early access.
NetherRealm Studios reportedly developed the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of the game with QLOC handling the PC port and Shiver Entertainment/Saber Interactive handling the Nintendo Switch port.
Whilst the game appears to be running fine on PC and the current-gen consoles, the Switch port has been slammed for its significant graphical downgrade and performance issues. This has led to questions over the Switch port’s cost at $70.
Nintendo Life review gives it 2/5 stars saying: “There are frame rate issues, big resolution dips, input and timing problems related to performance drops, missing content, game-breaking bugs in Invasion mode, long loading times, and unresponsive menus.”
The Switch version is also reportedly missing the full version of the new Invasions mode with publisher Warner Bros. Games confirming that’s the case saying it is “to ensure the best possible experience for Switch players at launch”. The full Invasions content is expected to follow in coming weeks.
“Mortal Kombat 1” releases generally for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch tomorrow.
