MrBeast Overtakes T-Series, Honoring PewDiePie’s Legacy

Overtaking Indian musical company T-Series to become the most subscribed channel on YouTube, Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson has taken top position. Since 2019, when it passed PewDiePie, T-Series had held the top. Starting at the beginning of 2023, MrBeast, 26, had 127 million members while T-Series had 233 million.

Overtaking T-Series, MrBeast closed the over 100 million subscriber gap by June 1, 2024. In retaliation for T-Series’ April 15 appeal for their fans to “unite and create history,” MrBeast asked X viewers to “subscribe to me instead.” He even threw down a boxing challenge to Bhushan Kumar Dua, CEO of T-Series.

MrBeast’s unwavering production of content—he is well-known for his avant-garde and extreme movies, including one in which he buried himself alive for a week and planned a cash-prize 100-day survival challenge—fueled his rise to the top. His millions of dollars in charitable donations made through Beast Philanthropy have also attracted a lot of notice.

MrBeast’s business initiatives go beyond his YouTube fame and include his quickly rising chocolate bar ‘Feastables,’ which often sells out at Walmart stores all throughout North America. He also declared in May that he will be hosting “the largest game show ever in history,” ‘Beast Games,’ on Amazon Prime, with 5,000 competitors and a $5 million prize.

The competition to 300 million subscribers is still ongoing, even though MrBeast has surpassed T-Series, and it’s unclear who will hit the mark first.
