Congratulations are in order for Naomi Osaka!
Multiple outlets report that the tennis champion has given birth to a baby girl with her boyfriend, the musician Cordae. This is their first child together.
She confirmed her pregnancy back in January via social media, where she shared a slideshow that included her sonogram. “Can’t wait to get back on the court but here’s a little life update for 2023,” she wrote. A second picture was a screenshot of a Notes app statement that also addressed her future in tennis.
“The past few years have been interesting to say the least, but I find that it’s the most challenging times in life that may be the most fun,” she wrote. “These few months away from the sport has really given me a new love and appreciation for the game I’ve dedicated my life to. I know that I have so much to look forward to in the future, one thing I’m looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone, ‘That’s my mom.’”
Over the last few months, Osaka has further opened up about her motherhood journey. In June, she posted several photographs from her baby shower, where she stood in front of a backdrop that read: “A little princess is on the way.”
Back in February, Osaka also admitted to Vogue that she was “not really sure I can prepare,” for being a parent. “I know there are things I can buy and classes I can take, but… This is going to be my first, and I’m really excited,” she said. “Everyone I know that has had a kid, it has changed their life. I don’t think I can prepare for it. I think I’m gonna have to go with the flow.”
