NBA YoungBoy says house arrest is causing his mental health to decline. In a new interview with AllHipHop, the Louisiana native’s attorney spoke about his client being on 24-hour house arrest for two years.
Attorney James P. Manasseh told the outlet that he filed a petition to modify his client’s gun case and the current house arrest stipulations. Manasseh explained that the restrictive court order has negatively impacted the rapper, né Kentrell DeSean Gaulden.
“Being confined to his home and unable to complete his employment obligations has led to great anxiety, depression, loss of weight and sleep,” the attorney detailed. “[NBA YoungBoy] has been visibly stressed and has expressed concern and loss of hope that he will be able to return to his contracted employment obligation.”
NBA YoungBoy was ordered to stay in his Salt Lake City home in October 2021 after catching a weapons charge. The Louisiana court ordered that he stay at the isolated home with limited visits approved by the judge.
Elsewhere, Gaulden still faces multiple charges in Louisiana in connection with a 2020 arrest. That separate case saw NBA and 15 additional men arrested after police responded to reports of weapons being brandished at a video shoot.
Upon arriving on the scene, authorities discovered 14 firearms, three grams of marijuana, one dose of hydrocodone, and digital scales on the premises. The rapper has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
NBA YoungBoy recently spoke about regretting the negative impact that his music and actions have had on his fans. “I was flooded with millions of dollars since the time I was 16, all the way to this point in my life,” he told Billboard. “I woke up one morning and was like, ‘Damn, they got me. Look at the sh*t I done spoke about. Look at the sh*t I put in these people ears.’ Man, I feel very wrong about a lot of things. How many lives I actually am responsible for when it comes to my music?”
“How many kids and people have got in a car or put this sh*t in their ears and actually went and hurt someone? And now, I’m sitting back like, damn, I can’t do it all in one day. But I promise to clean whatever I can clean. But it’s gon’ take time.”
