Netflix
Netflix has set a July 28th launch date for the first ten episodes of its new adult animated series “Captain Fall”. The project was commissioned for twenty episodes which are being spread across two parts.
The series was created by Jon Iver Helgaker and Jonas Torgersen, the pair behind Netflix’s Norwegian comedy series “Norsemen”.
The story follows a wet-behind-the-ears, yet good-hearted sailor who has some of the worst marks the naval academy has ever seen. Soon after he’s appointed sea captain and unwittingly finds himself at the helm of a smuggling ship for an international cartel.
Said cartel plan to use him as a fall guy in case the authorities ever catch up to them.
The stacked voice cast includes Jason Ritter as Jonathan Fall, Christopher Meloni as Agent Steel, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Liza, Anthony Carrigan as Mr. Tyrant, Alejandro Edda as Pedro, Adam DeVine as Tanner, and Trond Fausa as Nico.
Helgaker and Torgersen originally pitched the series as a live-action show, but the switch to animation has allowed them to stage “limitless” episodes creatively.
They also serve as showrunners and executive producers. Animation veteran and Netflix producer Joel Trusser will also executive produce.
