Joyce Sherri (“Midnight Mass,” “Sweet Sixteen”) has been hired as the lead writer and director for the musical animated series “Tiana” which serves as a follow-up to the 2009 Disney animated film “The Princess and the Frog”.
Anika Noni Rose will once again provide the voice of Tiana as she sets off for a grand new adventure as the newly crowned Princess of Maldonia, but a calling to her New Orleans past isn’t far behind.
Walt Disney Animation Studios is behind the 2024 project which Nathan Curtis is producing and both Jennifer Lee and Stella Meghie are executive producing. Sherri replaces Meghie who was the originally attached writer/director.
The news comes as Disney has also announced that a 4K restoration of the original 1937 animated classic “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” is set to land on Disney+ on October 16th – just six days after the new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray edition becomes available.
The work is the combined efforts of the Walt Disney Studios Restoration and Preservation team alongside key artists from Walt Disney Animation Studios. The same team recently worked on the restoration of 1950’s “Cinderella”.
