Production has kicked off on the fast-tracked next entry in the “Jurassic World” franchise at Universal Pictures – filming beginning just months after the project was announced.
Variety reports that a month filming is now taking place in Thailand and will run across various locations throughout the country until mid-July.
Locations in Malta will be used from between July and September followed by studio filming in the UK.
2014’s “Godzilla” and “The Creator” director Gareth Edwards helms the project which will star Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend, Luna Blaise and David Iacono.
As previously indicated, David Koepp’s script is a back-to-basics reboot with a “fresh take” launching a “new Jurassic era”. It follows three adults and three teenagers getting stuck on an island.
Steven Spielberg, Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley are on board as producers. The film is still on track for release on July 2nd 2025.
