On Nov. 26, rapper Nicki Minaj launched her perfume Pink Friday 2, coinciding with the release of her album of the same name.

However, the bottle design has been met with mixed reactions, with some labeling it as “disturbing.” Despite the initial negative feedback, the perfume’s popularity continues to rise.

The New York rapper took to Twitter(X) to express her surprise at the unexpected release of her perfume in JCPenney stores. She claimed:

“ I had no idea. Was informed of nothing. Didn’t get a link to post. Just woke up one day & boom! Saw y’all discussing it.”

The original plan was for the perfume to be released on December 17 on Amazon, followed by a JCPenney release on December 26. However, the mix-up seemed to have benefited the perfume’s exposure. Minaj continued her Twitter(X) rant with:

“Noreen from my fragrance company advised that she’ll be getting back to me with answers on this right away. Apparently she had no clue either. Go figure. There clearly was some sort of mix up; but make no mistake, we are honored & grateful to have my official #PinkFriday2PERFUME @ #JCPenny. I’ll get back to you guys to confirm the Amazon release date.”

Despite the initial criticism surrounding the bottle design, the popular fragrance has since been flying off shelves. Fans on Twitter(X) expressed their thoughts and feelings on the platform.

One user (@barbiemin4j) stated, “I’m so confused on why Beyhive has so much to say about Nicki Minaj perfume that Beyoncé perfume was $100 and Nicki was “cheap” like if it’s $100 why is it getting so much negative reviews meanwhile Nicki perfume is getting positive reviews.” While another user (@famugirl3)  commented, “Review of Perfume It smells so good like I feel like I got moneyyyyyyy. Haha and the smell last very long love it. Its not to strong and not to light in my opinion. Its perfect and the bottle is so cute! @NICKIMINAJ”

It is worth noting that the positive reviews for the new fragrance have outweighed the negative ones.

Initially,  supporters who could get their hands on the bottle before it was sold out stated, “Bottle looks so stupid, old and cheap. I wouldn’t ruin my fragrance collection with this dumb bottle. While another purchaser claimed, “Cheap and tacky looking, predictably.”

Although there have been previous negative remarks about the perfume, it seems that the good is prevailing.

Despite initial reservations about the bottle design, consumers are drawn to the scent and affordable price, making Pink Friday 2 a successful addition to the Queen of Rap’s brand.

In other Nicki Minaj-related news, she had made a pivotal decision to postpone the release of her highly anticipated album, Pink Friday 2. As a result, eager fans must exercise patience as the album’s new drop date is set for the “Super Freaky Girl” rapper’s 41st birthday, setting the stage for what could be an extraordinary birthday surprise.

It seems that it’s the season for warm fragrances! Beyoncé continued to captivate the world with her latest venture – the introduction of her luxury perfume, CÉ NOIR. After teasing her fans with samples during her Renaissance World Tour, Queen Bey announced the release of this exquisite fragrance.
