A Ghanaian nurse at the Red Zone Unit of the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Zeinab Mohammed Amin, has been sentenced to six years imprisonment with hard labour for assaulting her husband.
Zeinab is accused of pouring hot water on her husband after they had an argument over his refusal to allow her to drive his car.
According to Zeinab, who is a mother of two children, she acted in self-defense because her husband was abusive.
Trial judge His Lordship Justice Eric Ankoma disagreed with her defence and sentenced her to six years in prison with hard labour.
Her husband meanwhile is being treated at the Burns Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.
