OutKast Honored With Limited Edition Statue In Celebration Of ‘Aquemini’ Album

OutKast has been presented with their own miniature statue in commemoration of the duo’s 1998 album, Aquemini.

The figurine was created by sculptor and animator Steven “Concrete Jungle” Cartoccio in partnership with OutKast and Mass Appeal. It was unveiled on Thursday (Oct. 12), two weeks following Aquemini‘s 25th anniversary. The limited edition statue is currently available for pre-order and will be released in mid-2024.

According to a product description provided by the official Hip-Hop 50 Instagram account, the statue weighs 15 pounds and “incorporates elements from all of OutKast’s classic albums and features two replaceable heads” for both group members.

Cartoccio also revealed that the statue, which will be on display at New York Comic Con, will be available both unsigned and with autographed versions bearing Andre 3000 and Big Boi‘s signatures. The autographed edition of the statue costs $750, while the unsigned version is priced at $550. A veteran artist and avid Hip-Hop fan, Cartoccio has previously created replicas of Hip-Hop icons such as The Notorious B.I.G., Wu-Tang, Clan, Nas, Eric B. & Rakim, MF Doom, and more.

Released on Sept. 29, 1998, Aquemini is considered one of the greatest albums in OutKast’s discography, as well as among the best of all-time. The pair’s third studio album, Aquemini was led by the singles “Da Art of Storytellin’ (Pt. 1)” featuring Slick Rick, “Skew It on the Bar-B” featuring Raekwon, and the Grammy-nominated hit “Rosa Parks,” which peaked at No. 55 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and has since been certified double-platinum, with over two million copies sold in the U.S.
