Owen Beck’s hat trick in a spectacular Petes comeback

Owen Beck’s hat trick in a spectacular Petes comeback

When it comes to Canadian prospects, the names Lane Hutson and Joshua Roy naturally spring to mind. And lately, Filip Mesar and Florian Xhekaj have been attracting a lot of attention.

But we mustn’t forget Owen Beck, who is enjoying a great season in the OHL. Again today, the team’s former second-round pick in 2022 was dominant, scoring a hat trick.

He ended the game with four points, including an assist on teammate Donovan McCoy’s winning goal. It was his second four-point game in seven days.

Here’s the third goal from the CH hopeful, who gave his team more and more hope.

OWEN. BECK!

This net reduced the gap to one goal, and that of his teammate, Samuel Mayer, tied the score a few minutes later.

Peterborough erased a 0-5 deficit to win in overtime. It was reminiscent of the Canadiens’ comeback against the Rangers in 2008…

In 18 games this season, Beck, in his first full year with the Petes and his third in the OHL, scored 11 goals and dished out eight assists.

He was rightly crowned first star of the game this afternoon.

Beck seems to be on the right track, having had a slow start to the season. The same goes for Filip Mesar.

Among players having played at least five games, the Slovak ranks second in the OHL in points per game (1.8).

That’s no mean feat! Yesterday, he was blanked, but his team still won.

– The CH defense is bad.

The Habs team defense being worse than Chicago & as bad as Columbus & just barely “better” than San Jose is certainly not ideal… https://t.co/SXU3YmPk1Z
