Padalecki Up For “The Boys” Final Season

Padalecki Up For “The Boys” Final Season

The CW

Amazon announced a little while back that the fifth season of its superhero satire series “The Boys” will be its last. With filming on that season commencing either around year’s end or early next year, things are lining up for one last “Supernatural” reunion.

Series showrunner Eric Kripke famously created “Supernatural” and steered that long-running series over its first five years, and more recently has been bringing alum from that show into “The Boys” fold.

He got Jensen Ackles onboard as Soldier Boy in the third season, and has Jeffrey Dean Morgan appearing in the current fourth. Will he round out the family Winchester set by getting Jared Padalecki for the fifth?

With “Walker” cancelled, Padalecki’s schedule has been freed up and the actor has previously discussed the possibility with Collider in April.

At that time he revealed he’s told Kriple he’s a 41-year-old with kids and “not 25 and working out three hours a day” anymore, and he knows Kriple is “going to f—– make me get naked”. So he wants enough time for a nutritionist and a trainer to get into the shape needed.

Maybe he’s got it as he was just asked by Deadline if he’s keen to join “The Boys” to which he indicates talks are happening now and he’s eager to join:

“The answer is yes. We have talked [about a role]. As a matter of fact, we talked today. I think at this point in my acting life, I only want to work on projects that I really care about or with people that I really care about, and obviously Eric and I are indelibly connected forever.

I mean, he created Supernatural. He created Sam Winchester. He created Ruby [Genevieve Padalecki], who I ended up marrying and starting a family with. I adore him. I adore his humor. I adore him as a person, his storytelling.

So I can’t wait. I don’t think it films until next year, but I will be ready when he makes the phone call. I’ll just say ‘Okay, when am I flying out?’”

In all around a dozen actors from “Supernatural” have joined “The Boys”-verse including Jim Beaver, Alexander Calvert and Rob Benedict.

The first four episodes of the fourth season of “The Boys” are now streaming on Prime Video.
