Patrick Mahomes‘ father reportedly got arrested this week. He was suspected to have been driving under the influence.
Mahomes Sr., 54 years old, was taken into custody on Saturday (Feb. 3) in Tyler, TX. The former MLB player was charged with Driving While Intoxicated 3rd Or More and had his bond set at $10,000. He was able to make bond and was released from the Smith County Jail on Sunday (Feb. 4). Driving While Intoxicated 3rd Or More is a third-degree felony which yields a jail sentence of up to 10 years if convicted.
Mahomes Sr. played in the MLB from 1992 to 2003. He had stints on the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Chicago Cubs. He pitched in 308 games total, 63 of which he started in, and had a 42-39 record with a 5.47 ERA. One of his biggest moments came when he pitched in the 1999 playoffs for the New York Mets.

This happened one week before his son, Patrick Mahomes, will appear in his fourth Super Bowl in five years. Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will face off against the San Francisco 49ers in a rematch of Super Bowl LIV that the Chiefs ended up winning 31-20.
While Mahomes brings the experience of being a two-time Super Bowl winner and two-time Super Bowl MVP, the Chiefs are viewed as the underdogs. Their road to becoming the 2024 AFC Champions was far from easy, as they finished the season 11-6 after going 6-1 in their first seven games. Mahomes was visibly frustrated during games as his receivers, namely Kadarius Toney and Marquez Valdez-Scantling, dropped passes in crucial parts of games.
However, the Chiefs managed to figure it out and defeated the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills, and No. 1 seed Baltimore Ravens and are en route to another Super Bowl appearance. Another victory puts him in serious contention to outpace Tom Brady, who many believe is the greatest NFL player of all-time.
