Pet Shop Boys have called out Drake after the Canadian megastar used their ‘West End Girl’ lyrics on ‘All The Parties’.
The rap star is a famous Anglophile, but normally that extends to lifting patois or popping up on the odd J Hus single. This time, however, Drake has gone a little further – interpolating a famous Pet Shop Boys lyric on his new album.
Out now, ‘For All The Dogs’ is a bold, large-scale work, with Shahzaib Hussain calling it “a sprawling, at times humdrum experience, where Drake is ostensibly mindful – and borderline paranoid – about his place in the rap game. On first listen, this isn’t his certified rap classic but it does signal a turning point.”
Album standout ‘All The Parties’ is Drake tapping into his core values, backed by a guest spot from Chief Keef. The stadium-level production breaks at one point, with the Canadian star murmuring: “East End boys / And West End Girls…”
The chorus line of Pet Shop Boys’ seminal synth pop single, the duo clearly weren’t impressed by Drake’s move – especially since he didn’t get in touch.
In a note on x/Twitter, the pair wrote:

Drake has not responded publicly to the statement.
Elsewhere, singer Rye Rye called out Drake for using her vocals without permission on the song ‘Calling For You’. She wrote on x/Twitter:
