Sarah Wayne Callies is opening up about the “rampant misogyny” she faced while filming “Prison Break” – including a time she allegedly was spat on by a male colleague.
The actress made the revelation during her appearance on the “Broad Ideas” podcast Monday, after explaining to listeners that she’s recently been rewatching the popular Fox series.
Callies said that revisiting the TV show, which aired from 2005 to 2009, has allowed her to appreciate her time on set despite “all of the challenges” she initially dealt with while being “the only woman around.”

She claimed there were “definitely two edges to that sword,” as she recalled, “I’ve had an actor on that show spit in my face. And I was like, ‘Holy s–t.’”
Callies, 46, promised fans that she will elaborate further on the incident in a future episode of her “Prison Breaking” podcast with former co-star Paul Adelstein.
“We will talk about it someday, but … there were things. Like, I would go home some nights and have to spend an hour talking my husband out of going to hospitalize somebody,” she added.

The “Walking Dead” star furthered, “Some of the guys were great, and some of them were totally gentlemen.”
While Callies didn’t mention any names, the hit show starred Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller and was the start of new fame for many of the actors, which often led to chaos.
Initially, the mother of one didn’t want to rewatch the show because she feared it would send her “into a spiral” of “‘What did I let them do to me? What did I let them say to me? What did I put up with? What did I not report?’”

However, she admitted she “made lifelong friends” with some of the other people she worked with on set.
Callies also explained she “didn’t have scenes with women,” which she described as “a missed opportunity.”
The actress, who played Sara Tancredi on the show, briefly reprised her role in a rival season in 2016.
