Former prime minister and defense minister Prayuth Chan-ocha and his wife’s total assets amount to THB130 million, as revealed in a report by the National Anti-Corruption Commission today.
The former PM, who gave himself absolute power in the country, was found to share assets with his wife totaling THB130,191,162, with an increase of THB1.5 million in the past nine years and no debts. Individually, Prayuth holds THB98.6 million in assets, while his wife Naraporn holds THB31 million.
Prayuth’s assets include THB13.7 million in deposits across seven accounts, investments worth THB64 million, and two plots of land worth THB3.2 million, consisting of 20 rai of land in Chachoengsao province with a value of THB3,073,060, and another plot purchased with his spouse for THB183,000.
His holdings also include a three-story house on Phaholyothin Road, Phaya Thai District, valued at THB3.6 million. He invested THB43.5 million in debt securities and owns a 2009 Porsche Panamera worth THB4.5 million, nine watches valued at THB3 million, and nine guns.
Additionally, he owns four cars worth THB10.7 million, including a 2009 Porsche Panamera worth THB4.5 million, a 2023 Toyota Alphard worth THB3.6 million, a 2011 Mercedes Benz S600L worth THB2.5 million, and a 2005 Ford Ranger worth THB120,000.
Other assets amount to THB5 million in value, consisting of 10 rings and bracelets worth THB735,000, nine watches worth THB3 million, a gold necklace with six Buddha pendants worth THB820,000, nine guns worth THB253,000, and two bicycles worth THB203,000.
The report was part of a legal mandate for former public officials to disclose their wealth. The same report also revealed 18 other political figures’ assets, including those of former deputy prime minister and watch collector Prawit Wongsuwon, which amount to THB89 million
The huge sums serve as a good indication that with great power comes great material gain in Thailand.
