Baby Reindeer
Richard Gadd‘s acclaimed Netflix hit series “Baby Reindeer” will compete in the Limited Series categories for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards. The series has overtaken “Shogun” and “X-Men ’97” as the best reviewed TV series of 2024 so far on Metacritic.
The seven-episode series starts as a lightly fictionalized account of Gadd’s own experience with a stalker who sent him over 40,000 emails, hundreds of tweets, letters and voicemails. It ultimately forces him to face a dark, buried trauma. [Source: TV Line]
The Exorcism
Vertical Releasing has acquired the North American rights to the Russell Crowe-led horror film “The Exorcism” (previously known as “The Georgetown Project”). A June 7th cinema release is set.
Crowe plays a troubled actor who slowly unravels while shooting a supernatural horror film. His estranged daughter (Ryan Simpkins) wonders if something sinister is at work. [Source: Deadline]
Vera
Brenda Blethyn has announced her long-running detective series “Vera” will end with its upcoming fourteenth season. The first series premiered in 2011 and was inspired by Ann Cleeves bestselling Vera Stanhope novels.
Filming on the final season, consisting of two two-hour episodes, will take place this summer in Northumberland and North East England. [Source: TV Line]
Twilight of the Gods
Netflix has set a Fall 2024 launch window for Zack Snyder’s Norse mythology-driven eight-episode animated series “Twilight of the Gods” which sees a revenge-seeking bride on a mission to fight a God.
Sylvia Hoeks, Stuart Martin, Pilou Asbaek, John Noble, Paterson Joseph, Rahul Kohli, Jamie Clayton, Kristopher Hivju, Peter Stormare, Jamie Chung, Lauren Cohan, and Corey Stoll lend their voices. [Source: Variety]
Tales of the Shire
Private Division and Weta Workshop have teamed up for “Tales of the Shire,” a new “The Lord of the Rings”-themed game quite different from most titles set in Middle Earth.
In a just-released trailer, we see players get to live out the life of a Hobbit in the Shire in the quaint small village of Bywater near Hobbiton. Discover, decorate, and share in this idyllic place, and join your friends for a party.
